Moroccan Police Arrest French National Involved in International Motorcycle Theft and Smuggling Ring

Marrakech – In a successful security operation, Moroccan police in Marrakech arrested a 33-year-old French citizen of Moroccan descent on Monday, October 7, 2024. The arrest came on suspicion of his involvement with an international criminal network specializing in the theft and smuggling of luxury motorcycles.

According to initial investigations, the criminal network is implicated in stealing large shipments of high-value motorcycles from European countries, then smuggling them into Morocco and selling them through online classified websites. The total market value of the stolen motorcycles is estimated at around 450,000 euros.

The suspect was identified and apprehended in a rural area outside Marrakech, thanks to international security cooperation and local investigative efforts. During a search of his home, police discovered 17 bicycles reported stolen in Europe.

The suspect is currently undergoing judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the case and arrest the remaining individuals involved in the theft, smuggling, and money laundering operations related to these criminal activities.

This operation reflects the ongoing efforts of Moroccan authorities in combating transnational organized crime and underscores the importance of international cooperation in the field of security.
