Rome, October 5, 2024 – Italy emphasized today, Saturday, the importance of the “fundamental” strategic partnership between the European Union and Morocco, following the European Court of Justice’s decision regarding fishing and agricultural agreements between the two parties.
Antonio Tajani, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy, stated on his “X” platform account: “The strategic partnership is fundamental between the European Union and Morocco, including in the fields of agriculture and fishing.”
Tajani added: “The European Court should take this into consideration,” referring to the decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union regarding the aforementioned agreements.
The Italian Foreign Minister also emphasized his government’s desire to strengthen cooperation with Morocco, especially in the field of combating illegal immigration, adding: “I will reaffirm this during my upcoming visit to Rabat.”
This statement comes at a time when cooperation between the European Union and Morocco is facing legal challenges, highlighting the importance of maintaining strategic relations between the two sides in various fields, including agriculture, fishing, and combating illegal immigration.
