Police forces in Agadir, in collaboration with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance, arrested two individuals in their thirties on the evening of Friday, September 20, 2024, on suspicions of belonging to a criminal network specialized in organizing illegal immigration and human trafficking.
The suspects were apprehended in the cities of Essaouira and Agadir while allegedly preparing for an illegal immigration operation via maritime routes, intended for 20 migrants who were found in various locations within the city.
Initial investigations revealed that one of the suspects was subject to a national search warrant issued by the Royal Gendarmerie in Agadir related to a similar case.
The suspects have been placed in police custody, while the migrants are undergoing judicial investigations under the supervision of the relevant public prosecutor’s office to uncover all details of the case and identify potential national and international connections.
This security operation is part of the ongoing efforts by the National Police and the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance to combat the phenomena of illegal immigration and human trafficking.
