Florence Square in the Moroccan city of Fez witnessed a large protest today, Sunday, August 18, 2024, organized by the Moroccan Coalition for Supporting Palestine, denouncing the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.
A significant number of Fez residents responded to the coalition’s call, gathering in Florence Square carrying Palestinian flags and banners condemning Israeli practices against civilians in Gaza.
Participants in the protest chanted slogans against what they described as “systematic killing of civilians by the Israeli occupation army,” calling on the international community to intervene urgently to stop the aggression and protect Palestinian civilians.
One of the protest organizers said in a press statement: “We are here today to express our absolute solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, and to condemn the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against unarmed civilians.”
He added: “We demand the Moroccan government and the international community to take immediate and decisive measures to stop this aggression and provide urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.”
The protest proceeded peacefully, amid tight security measures by local authorities to ensure the safety of participants and maintain public order.
It is worth noting that this protest comes as part of a series of solidarity events organized by the Moroccan Coalition for Supporting Palestine in various Moroccan cities, to express the Moroccan people’s rejection of Israeli practices in the occupied Palestinian territories.
