The National Judicial Police Brigade has presented Mohammed Metzik, a YouTuber and Facebook activist known for his specialization in real estate issues concerning foreigners and Moroccans, before the King’s Prosecutor at the Court of First Instance in Ain Sebaa, Casablanca, this morning. This action came after his arrest yesterday while in possession of a quantity of cocaine.
Initial investigations indicate that the case is not limited to the consumption of hard drugs but also includes charges of mediating cocaine trafficking and facilitating sales operations.
Metzik was apprehended in a villa in the Bourgogne district of Casablanca, where a woman admitted to having given him the place merely as a guardhouse. Upon searching him, the police found packets of drugs ready for use.
It’s worth noting that Metzik gained fame through his Facebook posts, where he presented himself as a legal expert and defender of people’s rights. However, the National Brigade managed to apprehend him after tracking a cocaine shipment that reached him.
Informed sources reported that another person has been arrested in connection with the case, while the investigation is ongoing to arrest other potential accomplices.
This case raises questions about the extent of involvement of some social media influencers in illegal activities and highlights the efforts made by Moroccan authorities to combat drug trafficking.
The arrest of Metzik, who had built a reputation for discussing legal matters and property issues online, has shocked many of his followers. It serves as a reminder of the complex realities that can exist behind social media personas.
As the investigation continues, there is growing interest in understanding the full scope of the alleged drug network and whether it might involve other public figures or influencers. The case also underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in tracking and preventing drug trafficking operations that may use social media for coordination or camouflage.
