The United States has praised the recent humanitarian initiative launched by King Mohammed VI of Morocco to support the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip. Samuel Warburg, regional spokesperson for the US State Department, expressed his country’s gratitude for this move in an exclusive statement to Medi 1TV on Tuesday.
Warburg emphasised that the United States’ gratitude is not limited to this latest initiative, but extends to Morocco’s continuous efforts over the years to support the Palestinian people. He also noted the depth of the historical ties between the Moroccan and Palestinian peoples.
The medical aid sent by King Mohammed VI includes 40 tonnes of medical equipment and supplies, including equipment for burns, emergency surgery and orthopaedics, as well as essential medicines. The aid was delivered via a land route, similar to what was used during the food aid delivery last Ramadan.
The US also welcomed Morocco’s support for diplomatic efforts to reach an agreement in the region, emphasising the importance of such initiatives in the current circumstances.
This humanitarian initiative reaffirms Morocco’s commitment, under the leadership of King Mohammed VI, to the Palestinian cause and its keenness to provide tangible support to the Palestinian people in times of need.
