Police officers from the Directorate General of National Security in Oujda arrested, in the early hours of Friday morning, January 16, a man suspected of possessing and trafficking drugs and psychotropic substances, following a tightly coordinated security operation in one of the city’s neighborhoods.
The suspect was apprehended in flagrante delicto. A search operation led to the seizure of 2,123 narcotic tablets of various types, in addition to quantities of cocaine.
Police officers also confiscated one kilogram of cannabis resin (hashish) and 500 grams of kif, along with two electronic scales believed to have been used to weigh drugs, and 11 bladed weapons.
A sum of money suspected to be proceeds from this criminal activity was also seized.
The suspect was placed under judicial investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine all the circumstances and details surrounding the case. Security services continue their investigations to identify other potential individuals involved.
This operation is part of the ongoing efforts undertaken by the Directorate General of National Security to combat illicit drug trafficking and psychotropic substances, due to the serious threat they pose to the security and safety of citizens.
