After a Wave of Increases, Fuel Prices Fall in Morocco, Giving the Market a “Breather”

Fuel prices in Morocco recorded a decrease starting from the first minute of Tuesday, December 30, following a relative decline in supply costs from international markets, according to converging data compiled from several distributors and professionals in the fuel sector.

According to information circulating among market players, the price of diesel fell by around 65 centimes per liter, while the price of gasoline (unleaded super) dropped by approximately 44 centimes per liter. The change came into effect as of 00:01.

Based on the approximate prices observed after this decline, the price of diesel is now around 9.95 dirhams per liter (below the 10-dirham threshold), while the price of gasoline (SSP) has stabilized at about 13.05 dirhams per liter. These prices remain indicative and may vary depending on distributors, points of sale, and distribution areas.

Professionals in the fuel sector link this decrease to what they describe as a “window of calm” in international markets, despite the persistence of volatility factors. At the same time, stakeholders are raising questions about how long this trend will last, especially after a period that, according to the same source, saw two consecutive increases that pushed diesel above 10 dirhams and gasoline above 13 dirhams per liter.

This decline provides a measure of relative relief for drivers and professionals in the transport sector, as they await developments in international markets in the coming days and weeks.
