Public Prosecution Denies Arrest of Members of Qalaat Victims’ Families and Confirms the News is Completely False

The Public Prosecution at the Rabat Primary Court denied, on Tuesday evening, the validity of what was circulated on some social media platforms regarding the arrest of members of families of victims of the Qalaat events, confirming that this news is “completely untrue.”

A statement from the King’s Attorney explained that on December 9, 2025, a limited number of residents of the city of Qalaat carried out an unauthorized protest vigil in front of Parliament headquarters in Rabat, which included hanging banners on the iron fence surrounding the legislative institution.

The statement added that public force personnel intervened in a completely peaceful manner in accordance with legal provisions, requesting protesters to disperse the vigil and leave the premises, but they refused to comply, which necessitated transferring them to the competent judicial police headquarters.

The Public Prosecution confirmed that those concerned were directed toward legal procedures related to their demands, then were immediately released without taking any measure affecting their personal freedom, without placing any of them under police custody or issuing any detention order.

The King’s Attorney emphasized that what was promoted on some social media platforms in this regard “has no connection to reality,” calling for accuracy and objectivity in reporting news and relying only on official sources.
