The eyes of Arab football fans will turn tomorrow, Monday, toward the stadium for the anticipated match between the Moroccan and Saudi national teams, as part of the third and final round of Group Two competitions in the 2025 Arab Cup held in Qatar.
The Saudi national team tops the group standings with a full 6 points from two consecutive victories, having officially secured qualification to the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, the Moroccan national team occupies second place with four points and needs a victory to guarantee top spot in the group directly and avoid entering into complex calculations depending on the result of the Oman and Comoros match.
In a press conference held today, Sunday, Tarek Sektioui, coach of the Moroccan national team, confirmed that his team is determined to secure all three points. Sektioui said: “We are playing with a full squad and positive atmosphere prevailing in the camp, and our goal is to clinch top spot without looking at any other calculations.” He added that the technical staff respects the Saudi opponent, who possesses distinguished players, but the Moroccan team will approach the match according to its own conditions and with full concentration.
For his part, François Rodriguez, assistant coach of the Saudi national team, expressed “Al-Akhdar’s” desire to finish the group stage with a perfect record (9 points). Rodriguez explained that the team will continue the same upward momentum with which it began the tournament from the opening match, confirming that coach Hervé Renard is studying several tactical options that may include bringing new faces into the starting lineup. Rodriguez did not hide the offensive strength of the Moroccan national team, stressing that the technical staff will choose the most appropriate plan to counter it.
The match gains additional importance as it determines the identity of the Group Two leader, which will affect the quarter-final matchups. A large crowd is expected to attend the stadium to support both teams in this major Arab encounter.
