Rabat – November 25, 2025
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, announced today, Tuesday, before the House of Councillors, that the first increase in direct social support amounts will take effect starting at the end of this month of November, without any change in the price of butane gas cylinders, as part of the gradual implementation of the Royal initiative for the Social State.
Details of the New Increase:
- 250 dirhams for each of the first three children who are enrolled in school or under 6 years of age (instead of 200 dirhams previously).
- 175 dirhams for each child not enrolled in school.
- 375 dirhams for each orphaned child (father deceased) under 6 years and enrolled in school, among the first three children.
- Minimum direct support for each family: 500 dirhams monthly regardless of its composition (even if it has no children or only one child).
Mr. Akhannouch also confirmed that the Government will soon implement support directed at orphaned and abandoned children residing in social care institutions, to enable them to fully benefit from the fruits of the Social State and enhance their economic and social integration opportunities upon reaching adulthood.
Current Figures for the Direct Social Support System:
- More than 4 million beneficiary families
- More than 12 million direct beneficiaries
- More than 5 million children covered by protection against childhood risks
- Approximately 1.5 million elderly people over 60 years old
The Head of Government emphasized that this achievement was accomplished in record time thanks to the comprehensive mobilization of state institutions, confirming that the choice of the Social State is the fruit of a structured process that continued for 25 years under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, crowned by the generalization of social protection and the launch of direct support as an effective tool for preserving citizens’ dignity and consolidating social justice.
