Moulay Yacoub: Joint Awareness Campaign Between the Scientific Council and Provincial Health Delegation on Breastfeeding and Breast and Cervical Cancer Screening

The Lbabda Mosque in the Ain Cheggag commune, province of Moulay Yacoub, hosted an awareness and communication session on the importance of breastfeeding, on the sidelines of the national campaign launched by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection from October 20 to November 20, 2025, under the slogan: “Because there’s nothing better than your milk, give it to your baby from the first hour.”

The session was organized by the Provincial Delegation of Health and Social Protection of Moulay Yacoub, in coordination with the Local Scientific Council, and under the supervision of the Regional Directorate of Health of the Fez-Meknes region. Approximately 135 women from the area benefited from it, amid positive interaction and extensive discussions in which participants affirmed their commitment to encouraging breastfeeding as an authentic healthy behavior.

The session focused on:

  • The multiple benefits of breastfeeding for a child’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
  • Its crucial role in strengthening immunity and reducing disease risks for both mother and infant.
  • The importance of initiating it within the first hour after birth, emphasizing its exclusive continuation during the first six months.

This activity comes as part of implementing the joint communication program between the delegation and the Scientific Council, aiming to strengthen achievements within the framework of the first thousand days of a child’s life, considered a golden window for ensuring a healthy and balanced generation.

In the same context, and coinciding with Pink October under the slogan “Your health is your capital, and prevention and early detection are your guarantee,” a parallel awareness session was organized on:

  • The importance of early detection of breast cancer and cervical cancer.
  • Providing immediate medical consultations to target groups.

The campaign will be reinforced by:

  • Broadcasting awareness capsules via digital platforms and local radio stations.
  • Intensifying sessions within maternity departments and health institutions.

The Provincial Delegation confirms the continuation of these initiatives throughout the month, calling on women to benefit from available free screenings. The newspaper continues field coverage and will publish results and statistics upon their release.
