Rabat – November 4, 2025 – The Royal Cabinet issued an official communiqué on November 4, 2025, announcing the decision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to make October 31 of each year a national holiday under the name “Unity Day”, with the issuance of a Royal pardon on this occasion. This decision comes in commemoration of the historic transformation in the path of the national cause and the decisive developments in UN Security Council Resolution 2797/2025, as highlighted in His Majesty’s recent Royal Speech.
Key Contents of the Communiqué
- Significance of the Holiday: “Unity Day” carries references to the national unity and firm territorial integrity of the Kingdom, and constitutes a unifying occasion to express adherence to national sacred values and the Kingdom’s legitimate rights.
- Royal Addresses: In the future, Royal Addresses will be delivered on two official occasions: the Throne Day Speech, and the opening of the first session of the legislative year. His Majesty the King, in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful and Head of State, retains his right to address the people at any time and occasion he deems appropriate.
- Green March Celebrations: The scheduled celebrations commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the victorious Green March will be maintained, without a Royal Speech being delivered on this occasion.
This decision reflects the Royal vision in strengthening national unity and commemorating historical achievements in restoring territorial integrity, while ensuring the organization of official occasions in a manner that enhances popular and institutional cohesion.
