Rabat – November 3, 2025 – The Ministry of Interior, in its annual report on “Ministry Achievements for the Fiscal Year 2025,” revealed the registration of 302 legal proceedings against members of territorial collectivity councils, under the supervision of the General Directorate of Territorial Collectivities. This prosecution comes due to its direct impact on the legal status of the concerned members, particularly regarding removal from electoral lists and loss of eligibility to exercise mandate functions.
Distribution of Cases by Position
The report, reviewed by Hespress newspaper, detailed the distribution of proceedings as follows:
- 52 heads of territorial collectivities.
- 57 vice presidents.
- 124 council members.
- 69 former heads.
The Ministry confirmed that these measures aim to ensure transparency and accountability in local management, while ensuring respect for legal provisions related to elections and administrative management.
Registered Complaints
The General Directorate reported receiving 291 complaints from members of territorial collectivity councils, citizens, and civil society associations, related to financial and administrative violations. These complaints include issues concerning budget disbursements, public contracts, and administrative transgressions, reflecting growing societal awareness of the importance of civic oversight.
Context and Measures
This report comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen good governance in local management, in accordance with High Royal Directives aimed at combating corruption and enhancing trust in elected institutions.
