Clarification Statement from the National Company of Highways in Morocco on the Tragic Accident on Friday Morning, October 31, 2025, on the Highway Linking Rabat to Asfi, Specifically at Kilometer Point PK170+000 Towards Asfi
The company explained that the accident occurred at approximately 9:00 AM and involved a collision between a light truck and a mobile home transporter (caravan), resulting in the overturning of the second vehicle about 300 meters from the collision site.
The statement added that elements of the Royal Gendarmerie and Civil Protection rushed to the scene immediately after the accident, with specialized teams deployed to manage traffic, evacuate victims, and remove damaged vehicles. The company’s technical teams also secured the area, organized traffic flow, and temporarily rerouted lanes to avoid further accidents.
According to the initial toll provided by the company, the accident resulted in 15 injuries of varying severity, including two critical cases, in addition to one death.
As for the possible causes, it is believed that dense fog and poor visibility due to adverse weather conditions led the driver to lose control over speed and safe distance.
The National Company of Highways concluded its statement by stressing the necessity of vigilance while driving, respecting speed limits, and maintaining a safe distance to ensure the safety of all road users.
