Rabat – The Supreme Council of Religious Scholars announced today, Wednesday, that the Commander of the Faithful, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, has reviewed the text of the fatwa concerning zakat and authorized its publication for public access.
The council clarified in an official statement that the fatwa will be available on its official website as well as on the website of the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs starting Friday, October 24, 2025, at 3:00 PM.
The statement indicated that this decision responds to the royal directives issued by His Majesty the King to the Supreme Council of Religious Scholars on the occasion of the Prophet Muhammad’s birth anniversary on September 10, 2025, marking fifteen centuries since the Prophet’s birth, peace be upon him. The royal message instructed the council to prepare a comprehensive fatwa on zakat.
In response to this directive, the council entrusted the specialized fatwa body to prepare the fatwa, which was carefully drafted and approved by the Supreme Council of Religious Scholars, then submitted to the exalted throne on October 6, 2025.
This measure reflects the Commander of the Faithful’s commitment to promoting religious awareness and facilitating access to relevant religious rulings for citizens, thereby reinforcing Islamic values and guiding society according to the national religious framework.
