Football: Nabil Bahah Reveals 21-Player Squad for Atlas Lions Under-17 World Cup Team

Rabat, October 20, 2025 – The national coach of Morocco’s under-17 football team, Nabil Bahah, announced on Monday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex the list of 21 players selected to participate in the World Cup for this age category, scheduled to take place in Qatar in the coming days.

Preparations Following African Triumph: Global Ambition in Qatar
After the historic achievement of winning the African Under-17 Nations Cup title a few months ago, Nabil Bahah and his players are preparing to resume competitive activity. This time, the focus is on the Under-17 World Cup in Qatar. The national coach revealed the 21-player squad called to defend the red and green colors at the global championship.

The Moroccan team aims to repeat the success of their older peers in the under-20 category, who won the World Cup last Sunday against one of football’s powerhouses: Argentina. That under-20 team, led by Yasser Al-Zubairi and Othman Almaamah, entered history by achieving the first world title for any Moroccan national team.

Squad Includes Stars from the African Championship
For the Qatar adventure, Bahah summoned all the stars of the team with whom he won the African title. Among the distinguished names in the list are Abdullah Wa’zan, Ilyas Belmokhtar, Shoaib Belarrouch, and Ziad Bahah. These players form the core of the team that the coach relies on to achieve a new global milestone.

The Under-17 World Cup in Qatar will take place from November 3 to 27. The Atlas Lions are placed in Group B alongside Japan, New Caledonia, and Portugal. Morocco will face Japan’s under-17 team in their opening match just two weeks from now.

Tough Group Challenges and High Ambitions
Being in a strong group poses a significant challenge for the Moroccan team, especially facing Portugal and Japan, both countries with a rich history in world tournaments. Nonetheless, the young Moroccan players enter the competition with high confidence, inspired by the achievements of their under-20 counterparts and ready to make history once again.

This squad announcement marks a crucial step in building a new generation of Moroccan football stars, with many expected to emerge as exceptional talents on the international stage. As the tournament approaches, all eyes are on the final preparations to achieve the best possible results.
