The ministerial council, chaired today, Sunday, October 19, 2025, by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, approved a new draft regulatory law aimed at ensuring the integrity of the upcoming legislative elections and producing elites endowed with legitimacy and trust.
The new law is based on strict measures to “secure access to the parliamentary institution,” barring any candidate who has been judicially convicted resulting in the loss of electoral eligibility from running.
The draft also emphasizes adopting the necessary firmness to exclude any candidate caught in flagrante delicto committing crimes that undermine the integrity of the electoral process.
To reinforce this strictness, the law stipulates “tightening penalties to deter all attempts that may target the integrity of elections at all stages.”
In a related development aimed at qualifying the political field, the council also approved a draft regulatory law concerning political parties, which seeks to improve their internal governance and regulate their finances and accounts in line with the evolving Moroccan society.
