The second stage of the 2025 Morocco Rally took place today, Tuesday, around the city of Erfoud, covering a total distance of 394 km, including 307 km of special stage. The competition was fierce among top drivers across various categories, with the Merzouga sand dunes serving as the venue for the first real challenge in this 26th edition.
In the motorcycle category, Spanish rider Tocha Sharina of the official “Honda” team secured the stage win, ahead of his American teammate Ricky Brabec. Australian Daniel Sanders (Red Bull – KTM) finished third, maintaining a narrow lead of just 43 seconds in the overall standings. In Rally 2, South African Michael Dukerthi continued his strong form by winning the stage, reducing the gap to just five minutes behind the overall leader, Spaniard Edgar Canet.
In the car category, Qatari champion Nasser Al-Attiyah of the “Dacia Sandriders” team made a strong comeback, claiming his second win of this edition with an impressive performance starting from 20th position. He finished ahead of Spaniard Nani Roma (Ford M-Sport), who took over the overall lead, ahead of Brazilian Lucas Moraes (Toyota Gazoo Racing). Meanwhile, Moraes’s teammates, American Seth Quintero and South African Henk Lategan, suffered mechanical failures that cost them significant time losses.
In other categories, Dutchwoman Bork Klassen (G Rally) shone as the first female driver to win a stage in the Challenger category of this rally. Chilean Francisco “Chaleco” López (Can-Am Factory) continued his dominance in the SSV class, while Dutchman Gert Hoesink (Kuipers-Jongbloed) won the truck category.
The competition continues tomorrow, Wednesday, with the third stage covering 326 kilometers, including 323 km of special stage through the famous Merzouga dunes, setting the stage for another round of battles for the world championship title in the “W2RC”.
