His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, presided today, Wednesday, over the launch of the construction works for a regional center dedicated to the psychological and social rehabilitation of individuals with mental and psychological disorders, located in Sidi Hajjaj Oued Hassar commune, Mediouna Province, Casablanca-Settat region. The project, supervised by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, involves an investment of 300 million dirhams.
This solidarity project aims to strengthen the health sector, with a special focus on mental health, by providing specialized cognitive and psychological therapeutic services alongside professional activities designed to support patients during their stabilization and recovery phases. The center seeks to offer psychological and social rehabilitation services and train beneficiaries with skills that contribute to their social and professional integration.
The project is part of a comprehensive action plan overseen by the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity to enhance the national health offer, improve access to treatments for vulnerable groups, and integrate a complementary social approach targeting individuals suffering from mental and psychological disorders. It also reflects the foundation’s dedication to supporting populations facing material and moral vulnerability and reducing social exclusion.
The new facility, to be built on an 8-hectare site, will include a residential center with a capacity of 396 beds, including 84 beds reserved for women, as well as dedicated wings for therapeutic workshops and training. These will include discussion rooms, psychiatric doctor offices, as well as spaces for sports and professional activities, in addition to artistic areas for music, drawing, and theater, along with a library.
The project will also feature a health sector hub offering psychological treatment, general medicine, psychiatry, psychology, dental care, and logistical facilities such as kitchen, restaurant, and laundry, in addition to a pedagogical farm, sports fields, and administrative offices.
The project will be implemented over 24 months through a partnership between the Mohammed V Foundation for Solidarity, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, the Casablanca-Settat regional council, regional and local councils, and the National Initiative for Human Development.
The center will be managed by the Ministry of Health and Social Protection with support from the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Integration and Family, reinforcing the continuous commitment to support vulnerable populations within the development programs led by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God preserve him, in the Casablanca-Settat region.
