The Criminal Chamber of the Tangier Court of Appeal issued its verdict on Tuesday, September 23, in a pedophilia case involving a German national and his Moroccan accomplice.
The court sentenced both defendants to 12 years of imprisonment each on charges related to human trafficking, exploitation of a minor under 12 years old, violent sexual assaults on minors, and participation in these crimes.
According to the evidence presented, the accused lured and exploited children aged between 6 and 12 years. These facts were confirmed by the confessions of the accused, a medical report confirming certain abuses suffered by one of the victims, and testimonies collected from the children by the public prosecutor’s office.
The case dates back to last June when the Royal Gendarmerie arrested the German national and his Moroccan accomplice, who is known for begging, in the Gueznaia area while they were attempting to lure a minor.
Investigations revealed that the two men had rented a house in the same area where suspicious behavior was observed along with the frequent presence of children, particularly homeless minors. Upon receiving reports, neighbors intervened and surrounded the suspects until the gendarmerie forces arrived.
