In recent days, the Kiko area of Boulemane Province experienced flash floods that deeply alarmed the local population, particularly farmers whose fields were severely affected. Large volumes of water swept across extensive onion cultivation areas, destroying entire crops.
This situation has resulted in substantial economic losses for farmers who rely heavily on onion farming as their primary source of income, exacerbating their hardships and threatening their livelihood stability. The floods have also disrupted the harvesting process and raised fears of further negative impacts on the current agricultural season.
Calls are now directed toward the relevant authorities for urgent intervention to provide support and mitigate the effects of this natural disaster, alongside efforts to strengthen agricultural infrastructure to prevent recurrence of such floods in the future.
