A Royal Message to the Supreme Scientific Council: Amir al-Mu’minin Directs Commemoration of 1,500 Years Since the Birth of the Prophet Through a Broad Scientific and Media Program

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Amir al-Mu’minin, sent a noble message to the Supreme Scientific Council regarding the commemoration of the fifteenth century since the birth of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him. In the text of the message, which was read by the Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Mr. Ahmed Toufiq, on Monday in Rabat, His Majesty, in his capacity as the Protector of the Faith and Religion, called upon the Supreme Scientific Council to organize scientific and media activities worthy of this great occasion.

The royal message outlined the main themes for action, urging scholars to deliver lessons and lectures and organize seminars in various educational and public spaces. It emphasized the use of a contemporary approach that addresses the minds of the youth, highlighting that the moral interpretation of monotheism in our time is educating generations to liberate themselves from selfishness. His Majesty also stressed the importance of highlighting the efforts of the Alaouite kings in preserving the Prophetic Hadith, directing the issuance of an academic bulletin for Sultan Sidi Mohammed bin Abdullah’s book “Al-Futoohat al-Ilahiyya fi Ahadith Khayr al-Bariyya.”

The message highlighted Morocco’s unique dedication to preserving the Prophetic legacy, calling for showcasing the Moroccan excellence in meticulous care of the Holy Qur’an through memorization, recitation, and interpretation, as well as introducing spiritual educational institutions based on Sufi orders grounded in love for the Noble Prophet. It further called for showcasing Moroccan creativity in composing praise poems for the Prophet, the art of spiritual auditory tradition (Sama‘), and authoring prayer books for the Prophet, such as Imam Al-Jazouli’s “Dala’il al-Khayrat,” which served as a motto for Moroccans in their struggle to liberate occupied lands.

Academically, Amir al-Mu’minin ordered the council to scientifically prepare a verified publication of the famous Prophetic biography “Kitab al-Shifa bi Ta’rif Huquq al-Mustafa” by Al-Qadi Iyad. His Majesty also encouraged the people to greatly increase sending blessings upon the Prophet and to hold abundant gatherings for this purpose, accompanied by supplications to God to continue bestowing security and favors upon the Kingdom.

In closing his message, His Majesty affirmed the necessity of involving Moroccans residing abroad in these events through the Moroccan Scientific Council of Europe, as well as engaging African countries through the “Mohammed VI Foundation for African Scholars.”
