Fez – In a move aimed at strengthening communication and enhancing the contribution of the Moroccan diaspora to the region’s economic development, the city of Fez hosted a major communication event on Sunday under the theme “The Digitalization Project: Enhancing Local Services for Moroccans Worldwide.” Held on the occasion of the National Day of Moroccans Residing Abroad, the event focused on showcasing promising investment opportunities in the Fez-Meknes region and explaining the advanced mechanisms used to streamline administrative procedures.
Organized by the Fez-Meknes regional prefecture, in partnership with the Fez-Meknes Regional Investment Council, the gathering served as a true platform to highlight the vast potential of the region and the significant efforts being made to modernize its administration through the digitalization of its services, with the goal of bringing them closer to Moroccans abroad.
Royal Directives and an Ambitious Digital Agenda
In a statement to the Maghreb Arab Press (MAP), the governor of the Fez-Meknes region, Mr. Abdelghani Sabbar, confirmed that this event is a tangible reflection of the special interest that His Majesty King Mohammed VI places on Moroccans residing abroad. He stressed that strengthening institutional support necessarily involves simplifying and facilitating procedures.
The governor added that, in implementation of the High Royal Directives and to keep pace with global transformations, the Kingdom has launched its “Morocco 2030” digital strategy. This strategy is founded on the digitalization of public administration as a cornerstone to achieve three main objectives: facilitating access to public services, improving administrative efficiency, and enhancing the transparency of procedures. To ensure the success of this transformation, he noted, a comprehensive legal framework has been adopted, particularly concerning the protection of personal data, to build a strong relationship of trust between the citizen and the administration.
A Digital Bridge Connecting Moroccans Worldwide to Their Region
From his perspective, Mr. Ahmed Iraqi, a Moroccan resident abroad, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a “valuable opportunity” to get a close look at the nature of the investment projects available in the Fez-Meknes region and the significant facilities that Morocco provides to encourage its expatriates to invest.
Iraqi particularly praised the “Project Bank” established at the regional level, describing it as an effective guidance tool for potential investors. He also highlighted the importance of the digital platforms presented during the event, which shorten distances and save time and effort.
Digital Platforms at the Service of the Investor and Citizen
The event provided an opportunity to discover the latest digital tools launched by the Kingdom, specifically designed to simplify the lives of Moroccans abroad. Foremost among these platforms are:
- The CRI INVEST platform: Allows investors to submit and track their applications remotely and obtain administrative permits electronically in record time.
- The Rokhas.ma platform: For the digital management of various municipal licenses.
- The Watiqa.ma platform: For requesting and obtaining birth certificates and other civil status documents without physical presence.
- The ANCFCC.gov.ma platform: For retrieving land documents, such as property deeds and cadastral maps.
- The TGR.gov.ma platform: The General Treasury of the Kingdom’s platform, which allows for electronic submission of consultations and inquiries.
The event was not limited to theoretical aspects; it also allowed participants to visit pavilions dedicated to various institutions. This provided direct interaction and an opportunity to obtain detailed information about the role of each institution and the practical steps to benefit from its services, confirming that the Fez-Meknes region is determined to be a model in attracting investment and connecting Moroccans worldwide to their region through a robust and efficient digital bridge.
