journalistic reading of the Royal High Speech on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Glorious Throne Day

In his sublime speech on the occasion of the twenty-sixth anniversary of the Glorious Throne Day, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect and preserve him, delivered a profound message reflecting his insightful vision and noble aspirations for the Moroccan nation and its bright future.

His Majesty opened his address by renewing the bonds of mutual allegiance and the deep feelings of love and loyalty that unite him with his people, emphasizing that these bonds grow stronger every day and constitute a fundamental factor in Morocco’s unity and cohesion.

He then reviewed the achievements Morocco has made, highlighting the economic and social development journey since his accession to the throne, which is based on a long-term strategic vision anchored in political and institutional security and stability. This foundation enabled the country to successfully face challenges such as drought and international crises while maintaining a steady and significant growth rate.

His Majesty also underscored the tremendous industrial progress Morocco has witnessed, with industrial exports more than doubling since 2014, supported by strategic sectors such as automotive, aviation, renewable energy, food industries, and tourism, affirming that these sectors are key drivers of the country’s economy and job creation.

He pointed out Morocco’s global economic standing, marked by the diversity of its trade partners and free trade agreements linking it to nearly three billion consumers worldwide, in addition to its modern and robust infrastructure supporting this dynamic development.

His Majesty reviewed major recent projects, including the extension of the high-speed train line between Kenitra and Marrakech, initiatives to enhance water and food security, and the affirmation of energy sovereignty, reflecting the state’s commitment to sustainable development and regional balance.

However, he stressed that developmental success is incomplete without tangible improvement in citizens’ living conditions, with particular focus on promoting human development, extending social protection, and supporting needy families. This is based on the 2024 general population census results, which showed a notable decline in poverty rates and progress in the national Human Development Index.

His Majesty did not overlook the challenges facing some regions, especially rural areas suffering from poverty and structural fragility, calling for spatial justice and the reduction of social disparities. He emphasized the necessity of adopting an integrated regional development model that includes everyone without discrimination, relying on advanced regionalization and integration between territorial areas.

Within this approach, the King urged the government to launch new development programs focused on leveraging local economic qualifications, strengthening basic services in education and healthcare, adopting sustainable water resource management, and initiating integrated urban rehabilitation projects aligned with the country’s major national projects.

He also noted the upcoming legislative elections, stressing the importance of a clear and approved electoral framework before the end of the year, and reiterated his directives for sound preparation and opening political consultations with all stakeholders.

On the international front, His Majesty reaffirmed his fixed position regarding Algeria, emphasizing the deep historical and human ties between the two peoples, expressing Morocco’s continual readiness for transparent and responsible dialogue rooted in brotherhood and sincerity. This stems from the belief in the unity of the peoples of the region and their collective ability to overcome the current unfortunate situation.

He also reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment to the Maghreb Union, stressing that it cannot exist without the participation of Morocco, Algeria, and other brotherly countries.

Regarding the Sahara issue, His Majesty proudly announced growing international support for the autonomy initiative as the sole solution to the conflict, extending special thanks to the United Kingdom and Portugal for their supportive stances within the framework of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara. He confirmed Morocco’s keenness on a consensual solution that respects the dignity of all parties involved.

Finally, the King concluded his speech by expressing deep appreciation for the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the territorial administration, the National Security, Auxiliary Forces, and Civil Protection, acknowledging their dedication under his leadership to defend the nation’s unity, security, and stability. He solemnly remembered the pure souls of Morocco’s righteous martyrs, especially the late Kings Mohammed V and Hassan II, praying for divine blessings.

This royal speech reflects a clear vision to promote comprehensive and balanced development, reinforces the values of national unity and socio-economic progress, and embodies a determined and inspiring royal leadership guiding Morocco steadily towards the future.
