Explanatory Statement
In response to the video posted by an individual residing outside the country, in which he claims the “death of a police officer detained in Ain Sebaa local prison,” the General Delegation for Prison Administration and Reintegration presents the following clarifications to the public:
- The prisoner mentioned in the video (A.Q.) is still alive and is currently held in Arjat 2 local prison, not Ain Sebaa local prison, on charges related to participation in insulting public officials while performing their duties, insulting a legally organized body, and participating in the dissemination and distribution of a composition consisting of false statements and facts through information systems with the intent to defame. It is noted that the concerned individual is serving an 18-month prison sentence pursuant to a first-instance court ruling, contrary to the five-year sentence claimed by the person who posted the video.
- The dissemination of such falsehoods by the aforementioned person is part of a systematic targeting of a group of national institutions and bodies, in line with a larger plan aiming to undermine Morocco’s image and harm its symbols, serving hostile agendas.
