In a move to strengthen dialogue and exchange views on migration and development, the Fez-Saiss Association, in partnership with the International Civil Society Organization and the Moroccan Council for Foreign Affairs, organized a roundtable in Fez on the topic of “Ways to Benefit from Migrant Competencies.”
The meeting brought together a group of civil society actors and experts specializing in migration and diplomatic affairs. Discussions addressed the challenges hindering the mobilization of Moroccan competencies abroad and explored ways to transform these human resources into effective drivers of development at both local and national levels.
Participants emphasized the importance of adopting integrated public policies aimed at valuing migrant competencies and encouraging their active participation in development projects in Morocco, particularly in the fields of scientific research, innovation, and investment.
The roundtable also provided an opportunity to present a set of practical recommendations to strengthen the ties between the Moroccan diaspora and their homeland through enhancing institutional communication mechanisms and streamlining administrative procedures. In addition, successful examples of Moroccans abroad who contributed to various development sectors were showcased.
This event comes amid growing national and international interest in the role of diasporas in supporting development initiatives, reflecting the Moroccan civil society’s commitment to accompanying the dynamics and challenges related to migration and Moroccan talents across borders.
