Berkane Hosts the National Festival of Moroccans Abroad under the Theme “Moroccans Abroad: The Kingdom’s Radiance and Bridges of Development and Investment”

The city of Berkane is set to host the National Festival of Moroccans Abroad on July 26 and 27 under the theme “Moroccans Abroad: The Kingdom’s Radiance and Bridges of Development and Investment.” This event will bring together a group of Moroccans from abroad for a meeting expected to feature the signing of several partnership agreements with the Berkane Provincial Council. These agreements aim to foster 12 months of ongoing collaboration focused on exchanging expertise in resource exploration and management, particularly given Berkane’s wealth of diverse agricultural resources that require optimal marketing and investment.

The festival will also highlight the importance of the city’s historical monuments, which have potential to be developed into prominent heritage sites contributing to cultural tourism within the kingdom.

Additionally, a partnership agreement will be signed with the Anderlecht Municipality in Belgium, represented by communal councilor Safouane Al-Akrimi, alongside another agreement with the Belgian organization Échos Communication. This latter agreement aims to provide training for communal councilors in the Eastern region of Morocco, with a special focus on developing the skills of youth and women, while recognizing the valuable role of elders both inside the country and abroad.

Notable participants in this edition include Nadia El Yousfi, a Member of Parliament in Belgium; Rachid Madran, former Minister of Youth in Belgium; and Safouane Al-Akrimi, a young unionist and communal councilor at Anderlecht, responsible for housing affairs.

This gathering is expected to strengthen the ties between Moroccans abroad and their hometown, paving the way for enhanced investment opportunities and sustainable development in Berkane and the broader Eastern region.
