The administration of Larache local prison announced on Tuesday evening the death of an inmate held under the anti-terrorism law, linked to the so-called “Chamharouch” cell, while in his isolation cell.
The prison administration stated in an official communiqué that the deceased inmate suffered from psychological disorders and was under medical supervision, receiving treatment appropriate to his condition. The inmate was also examined by the prison doctor a few hours before his death due to suffering from the flu.
Following notification in accordance with the law, the competent public prosecutor dispatched Royal Gendarmerie officers to examine the body in the presence of the prison’s medical staff. The inmate’s family was also informed of his death, the statement added.
