On the evening of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, the Um Al-Qura Mosque in the Hay Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Ibn Tayeb hosted the opening ceremony of the ninth summer session for Quran memorization. The event was held under the supervision of the Local Scientific Council of Driouch in partnership with the Regional Delegation of Islamic Affairs.
The ceremony began with a heartfelt welcoming speech by Mr. Ahmed Al-Suhaili, Chairman of the Mosque Management Committee and member of the Local Scientific Council, who emphasized the importance of this annual Quranic initiative in nurturing the love of the Holy Book among the youth.
Following that, the guiding Imam, Mr. Mohammed Rashid Ahtash, delighted the attendees with a beautiful Quranic recitation, succeeded by distinguished individual recitations from several participating students, showcasing their excellence and mastery in Quranic reading.
The event concluded with a collective recitation of Surah Al-A’la, followed by an individual recitation and supplication led by the resident Imam and Quran teacher, Mr. Zuhair Al-Mahdawi, who raised prayers for the Commander of the Faithful and all Muslims, asking God to grant success and blessings to all.
According to the “Sada Driouch” page, the ceremony was attended by many parents alongside several female Quran memorizers. The gathering ended with a commemorative tea ceremony honoring all attendees, creating an atmosphere of warmth and fellowship.
This annual event reflects the mosque’s and the scientific council’s dedication to supporting Quranic education and strengthening religious values within the community, highlighting the pivotal role of Quran memorization in building an aware and devout generation.
