Ministry of Health Launches National Campaign to Raise Awareness on the Dangers of Scorpion Stings and Snake Bites

The Ministry of Health and Social Protection has launched a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the risks of poisoning caused by scorpion stings and snake bites, as part of the National Awareness Week on this critical issue. The campaign aims to protect citizens from serious complications that may result from such injuries, especially in rural and semi-urban areas where these incidents are more frequent during the summer season.

The ministry warned against common mistakes made when dealing with cases of scorpion stings and snake bites, emphasizing the importance of proper response to prevent worsening of the victim’s health condition. The awareness messages strongly advise against harmful practices such as attempting to suck the venom, cutting the wound, or using traditional remedies, and stress the urgency of seeking medical care at the nearest health center.

This campaign is part of the ministry’s ongoing efforts to reduce poisoning cases and educate the public on preventive measures, particularly amid rising temperatures and increased outdoor activities that elevate the risk of exposure. The ministry also called for preventive actions such as wearing shoes in areas known for scorpion and snake presence, preventing children from playing in suspicious places, and maintaining cleanliness around residential areas.

These initiatives align with a national strategy aimed at protecting public health and reducing poisoning incidents caused by scorpion stings and snake bites, highlighting the crucial role of community awareness and proper emergency response to ensure citizens’ safety.
