Joint Training Between Moroccan and Mauritanian Military Academies Strengthens Bilateral Defense Cooperation

Meknes, Morocco – June 2025 – As part of efforts to bolster defense ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, a delegation from the 41st class of officer cadets at the Mauritanian Military Academy successfully concluded a joint field training program at the Royal Military Academy in Meknes. The training took place from June 13 to June 20, 2025.

According to a statement by the Mauritanian Army, published by media outlets in Nouakchott, the training included theoretical lectures, practical exercises, sports and cultural activities, as well as field visits to military facilities and historical sites in Meknes and Fez.

This immersive experience served as a platform for academic and professional exchange between Moroccan and Mauritanian officer cadets, reflecting the political and military will of both countries to broaden strategic defense partnerships.

The joint training program is part of an expanding series of bilateral defense initiatives, including:

  • A visit by the Royal Military Academy delegation to Mauritania in June 2022

  • A recent visit by Moroccan military intelligence officials to Mauritania on June 3–4, 2025
