Informed sources confirmed that the driver responsible for the incident involving the child Ghitha has been placed in pre-trial detention. The court is scheduled to hold the first session of his trial in custody tomorrow, Monday.
The sources explained that the security and judicial authorities have dealt with the case firmly and seriously from the outset. The driver was arrested last Friday, and after completing the interrogation procedures, the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Berrechid Court decided to prosecute him on charges of causing a traffic accident resulting in serious injuries and driving under inappropriate conditions that led to severe bodily harm.
The sources added that the law was strictly applied throughout all stages of the preliminary investigation and interrogation before the Public Prosecutor’s Office. The case is currently before the competent judiciary, which will determine responsibilities and impose the necessary legal penalties.
The incident dates back to last Sunday, when a traffic accident occurred at Sidi Rahal beach, causing serious injuries to the child Ghitha, who is currently receiving intensive medical care at a hospital.
