A massive forest fire broke out today in the Ain El-Hosn area, located in Tetouan province, consuming vast stretches of forest cover and causing significant environmental damage. The fire prompted an immediate response from local authorities and relevant agencies, who launched intensive efforts to contain the blaze and prevent its further spread.
Four “Canadair” firefighting aircraft were deployed to assist in controlling the fire, alongside the mobilization of approximately 400 personnel from the Royal Armed Forces, Royal Gendarmerie, Civil Protection, and National Cooperation units. These teams are working continuously on the ground despite the challenges posed by strong winds, which hinder containment efforts and complicate field operations.
The fire consists of two main hotspots, complicating the firefighting operation and requiring high-level coordination among the various responding teams. Authorities are exerting maximum effort to preserve the remaining forest cover and protect nearby areas from the fire’s expansion.
The fire has caused extensive environmental damage, destroying large forested areas that serve as habitats for numerous plant and animal species, threatening the region’s biodiversity. Relevant authorities are assessing the damage and preparing to implement rehabilitation measures once the fire is fully controlled.
Local authorities and specialized agencies continue to closely monitor the situation, urging residents and citizens to exercise caution, avoid the affected areas, and assist firefighting efforts if necessary.
