Kamal Hiddan, the Regional Director of Agriculture in the Fez-Meknes region, revealed in a press statement positive indicators marking the start of the harvest season for the 2024-2025 agricultural year. Grain production in the region is expected to exceed 15.4 million quintals, despite the difficult climatic conditions at the beginning of the season1.
Hiddan noted that the beginning of the agricultural season faced significant difficulties. However, the substantial rainfall in March and April greatly contributed to revitalizing crops and restoring hope to farmers. This improvement in climatic conditions led to a promising harvest season compared to previous years1.
The Regional Director added that the harvest season in the region has entered its second week, with the average production so far reaching about 25 quintals per hectare1. High production levels have also been recorded in some provinces such as El Hajeb and Sefrou1.
The varieties cultivated include soft wheat, durum wheat, and barley, with a noticeable improvement in the quality of grains this season, reflecting the efforts of farmers and the success of the adopted agricultural strategies.
