Hicham Girando, known for spreading false news and misinformation, published a photo of a car claiming it belonged to Justice Minister Abdelatif Ouahbi, alleging that the minister caused a car accident while under the influence of alcohol.
However, a simple online investigation revealed that the photo is old and dates back to a car accident that occurred in May 2021 in Rabat, more than four years ago, and has no connection to the minister or the alleged incident.
This case once again highlights the spread of fake news aimed at discrediting officials and damaging their reputations, emphasizing the importance of verifying information before sharing it and relying on official and trustworthy sources.
It is worth noting that Moroccan law strictly punishes anyone who republishes or shares false news, considering such acts as digital crimes subject to legal penalties due to their negative impact on social security and public safety.
