Ghana’s Foreign Minister Visits Morocco, Commends Kingdom’s Efforts on Sahara Issue and African Cooperation

Today, Morocco received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Ghana on an official visit that reflects the deep bilateral relations and growing cooperation between the two countries. The visit comes amid important regional developments, with the Ghanaian side expressing strong appreciation for the United Nations’ efforts as the exclusive framework to reach a realistic, practical, and lasting solution to the regional dispute over Western Sahara.

The Ghanaian Foreign Minister affirmed that the autonomy plan presented by the Kingdom of Morocco represents the only realistic and sustainable basis for an agreed-upon solution to the Sahara issue, emphasizing the importance of this initiative in achieving stability and development in the region.

During the meeting, both ministers praised the growing momentum of the Atlantic African States initiative, which aims to establish an African Atlantic space as a geo-strategic platform offering significant opportunities for cooperation and integration among member states, thereby enhancing economic and social development across the continent.

The Ghanaian minister also welcomed the royal initiative aimed at facilitating the access of Sahel countries to the Atlantic Ocean, considering it a tangible expression of Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation and effective solidarity with its African brothers, within the framework of supporting sustainable development and promoting regional integration.

This visit underscores Ghana’s support for Morocco’s positions on regional and international issues and strengthens prospects for joint cooperation between the two countries across political, economic, and developmental fields.
