Morocco Prepares to Launch 5G Communication Services Starting Next Year

The Kingdom of Morocco is preparing to launch fifth-generation (5G) communication services starting next year, marking a significant step toward enhancing the country’s digital infrastructure and developing its telecommunications sector.

Official sources have indicated that the Moroccan government aims to cover approximately 25% of the country’s territory with 5G services by 2026, with plans to extend coverage to the remaining 70% by 2030. This ambitious timeline coincides with Morocco’s co-hosting of the FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal in the same year, underscoring the importance of providing advanced telecommunications infrastructure to support global sporting events.

This initiative is part of a national strategy aimed at accelerating digital transformation, improving service quality for citizens, and fostering innovation across various economic and social sectors. The rollout of 5G is expected to enhance internet speeds, reduce latency, and open new opportunities in areas such as smart cities, digital industries, remote healthcare, and education.

Launching 5G services represents a crucial step for Morocco to keep pace with global technological advancements and strengthen its competitiveness regionally and internationally in the field of digital communications.
