Marrakech, Morocco – His Majesty King Mohammed VI affirmed today, Sunday, that Morocco has asserted its position as a “strategic catalyst for South-South partnerships,” thus playing the role of a “natural bridge between the different regions of the continent and the countries of the South.” This came in a Royal Message addressed by His Majesty to the participants of the 2025 edition of the “Ibrahim Governance Weekend” Forum, which commenced its work in Marrakech.
His Majesty the King elaborated that the Kingdom “has initiated concrete and structuring projects that will sustainably transform the economic and social landscape of the Continent.” This orientation is materialized through continental-scale projects, such as the Atlantic Africa Gas Pipeline (AAGP), which constitutes a “true corridor of integration and economic development,” as stated in the Royal Message, which was read by His Majesty’s Advisor, Mr. André Azoulay.
In the same spirit, and in line with an approach of solidarity and co-development, His Majesty the King referred to the launch of the “Atlantic Initiative to promote the access of Sahel states to the Atlantic Ocean,” emphasizing that the ultimate goal is to “lay the groundwork for a new model of regional cooperation.” His Majesty also mentioned the “Rabat Process on Atlantic African Countries, for mutual benefit.”
In the message, His Majesty the King considered that the expertise accumulated by Morocco in strategic sectors such as “renewable energies, sustainable agriculture, financial services, and transport infrastructure,” constitutes “a key factor for the development of synergies at the continental level.”
Regarding development financing, His Majesty the King stressed the paramount importance Morocco attaches to this issue, indicating that the Kingdom has adopted “a strategic approach based on the development of innovative financial mechanisms and the efficient mobilization of national resources.” In this regard, His Majesty pointed out that the “Mohammed VI Fund for Investment” has proven itself “as a true financial catalyst capable of stimulating private investment, supporting SMEs, fostering technological innovation, and driving a dynamic of sustainable development.” His Majesty also cited the example of Casablanca Finance City, which has “successfully positioned itself as a major regional financial hub, channeling considerable financial flows towards our Continent.”
His Majesty King Mohammed VI concluded his message by reaffirming that “the Kingdom of Morocco, faithful to its constructive vision of South-South cooperation and driven by its immutable commitment to inclusive and sustainable growth, in the well-understood interest of African peoples, will resolutely continue to play a key role in the efficient mobilization of resources, the strengthening of strategic partnerships, and the promotion of efficient and effective financial mechanisms.”
