Noussair Mazraoui’s Injury Threatens Absence from Atlas Lions’ June Camp

The Moroccan national football team, the “Atlas Lions,” has received worrying news regarding one of its most consistent players this season, defender Noussair Mazraoui, who suffered an injury last Sunday during his club Manchester United’s match against Aston Villa (2-0). This injury could prevent him from joining the national team’s upcoming training camp in June.

Mazraoui, Manchester United’s right-back, was forced to leave the field in the 20th minute of the match against Aston Villa, part of the 38th and final round of the Premier League.

The official website of the English club confirmed that “Dutch internationals Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are on the plane for the Asian trip, but Lisandro Martinez is injured and Noussair Mazraoui is not there, as he was forced off in the first half on Sunday and must undergo a medical examination.”

As a result of this recent injury, Noussair Mazraoui will not participate in Manchester United’s post-season Asian tour, where the team will play friendly matches against the ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong.

Mazraoui, who has had an incredibly consistent and distinguished season, is currently one of Manchester United’s key players. Just as he missed the pre-season, the Moroccan player will also miss his club’s post-season tour. Given the timing of the injury, it is likely that he will also miss the upcoming “Atlas Lions” gathering scheduled in a few days in Morocco.

Mazraoui’s injury comes just days before the usual press conference by national coach Walid Regragui to announce the final list of selected Atlas Lions. Once again, injuries make the national coach’s task difficult, as he will have to revise his plans before this Tuesday.

To recall, the “Atlas Lions” are scheduled to play two friendly matches during the upcoming international break. The first will be against Tunisia on June 6, while the second will be on June 9 against Benin.

Thus, Noussair Mazraoui joins the national team’s injury list, which also includes Brahim Diaz and Nayef Aguerd. The question now is: How will Regragui compensate for the absence of these three key players?
