The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) has announced the launch of two new tourism plans under the banners “Shining Fès” and “Rising Ouarzazate”, in an effort to boost both cities’ presence on the international tourism scene.
This announcement is part of broader strategies aimed at promoting cultural and heritage tourism and strengthening the regional dimension within the national tourism plan.
In an official statement, the ONMT said the two plans aim to reposition Fez and Ouarzazate on the global tourism map through smart marketing strategies, improved air connectivity, and enhanced collaboration with both local and international tourism stakeholders.
The “Shining Fès” plan focuses on showcasing the cultural and spiritual richness of Morocco’s intellectual capital. Key initiatives include producing a documentary on Fez’s culinary heritage to be aired on TV5 Monde, along with visual content targeting European markets through channels such as France 2, M6, and BBC.
Meanwhile, the “Rising Ouarzazate” strategy aims to capitalize on the city’s cinematic legacy and stunning desert landscapes. It includes producing targeted content for the UK market, highlighting Ouarzazate’s role in the global film industry and supporting its participation in international film festivals.
