Fes: On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Fez-Meknes region witnessed a massive participation of over 800 male and female students in the Regional Carnival of the School Festival, organized under the slogan “Water… The Secret of Life and Our Shared Responsibility.” This event, aiming to activate the educational and cultural roles of educational institutions and instill environmental awareness among the youth, comes as part of the efforts of the nine provincial directorates in the region.
Festive Parade and Awareness Performances in the Heart of Fes
The carnival procession, comprising students from educational institutions, Second Chance schools, and preschool children, set off from the Al Batha Sports Complex in Fes, heading towards the historic Bou Jeloud Square, where the carnival’s main performances took place. The participation of the nine provincial directorates underscored their active involvement in the regional dynamic aimed at promoting values of environmental citizenship and collective responsibility towards this vital resource, which is the basis of life and sustainable development.
Student Creativity and High Environmental Awareness
The participating students presented a variety of educational and artistic performances, including expressive dances, environmental art displays, and powerful awareness slogans. All these performances aimed to educate the school community and society at large about the necessity of preserving water, rationalizing its use, and dealing with it wisely and consciously.
These presentations reflected the high level of environmental awareness among the learners and their deep understanding of the importance of major environmental issues, especially in light of climate change and dwindling water resources.
The Moroccan School: A Nursery for Values and Talents
This event also highlighted the latent talents of the region’s students, their strong enthusiasm, and their conscious and active engagement, painting a bright picture of the Moroccan school as a nursery for positive values and behaviors. This achievement is a natural result of the excellent guidance provided by teachers and educational administration.
It is worth noting that over 50% of the region’s students, whose total number exceeds one million, have benefited from 25 cultural events at the regional level, which significantly contributed to their acquisition of diverse skills, particularly in the artistic field, and raised their level of awareness in various areas. This carnival reaffirms the pivotal role of schools in building a conscious and responsible generation towards environmental issues and sustainable development.
