In a powerful and impactful speech delivered during the official ceremony commemorating the 69th anniversary of the establishment of Morocco’s National Security, the President of the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) expressed his deep pride in taking part in this significant national event. He praised the remarkable security achievements made under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.
At the beginning of his speech, he extended his gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty the King for his unwavering support of security matters—not only within Morocco but also at the regional and international levels—stressing that Morocco has become a key player in maintaining international peace and security, thanks to a strategic and balanced vision.
He also commended the competence of Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, and his administrative team, pointing out that the excellent organization and generous hospitality he experienced in Morocco reflect the bright image of the Kingdom’s institutions.
The INTERPOL President stated that the anniversary of the Moroccan National Security marks a shining milestone in the journey of security and development. He noted that Moroccan security services have succeeded in consolidating the foundations of stability in a highly complex regional and international context, through an advanced security system based on professionalism and respect for human rights.
He emphasized that Morocco has been an active member of INTERPOL for nearly seven decades and has played a pivotal role in supporting numerous international security initiatives, particularly in combating terrorism, migrant smuggling, human trafficking, and drug-related crimes.
He further highlighted that the selection of Mr. Mohamed Dkhissi, Police Commissioner and Director of Judicial Police, as Vice President of INTERPOL’s Executive Committee for Africa, clearly reflects the growing international trust in the capabilities of Moroccan law enforcement and affirms the high standing of Morocco’s security institutions on the global stage.
The INTERPOL President also pointed out that hosting the 93rd General Assembly of INTERPOL in Marrakech demonstrates Morocco’s high organizational capacity and the international community’s trust in its political stability and strong security infrastructure. He described the event as a culmination of Morocco’s successful path of security reform and modernization.
He affirmed that the upcoming assembly will mark a pivotal moment in the organization’s history, as it will bring together high-level security officials from around the world to discuss new security challenges and adopt a strategic framework to guide international police cooperation for the next five years—with Morocco playing a key contributing role.
In conclusion, the INTERPOL President emphasized the importance of innovation and the use of technology in combating organized crime. He also announced the signing of a host country agreement with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to open a new INTERPOL regional office in Riyadh, which will be the largest of its kind globally and the first in the Middle East and North Africa region. The office is expected to play a key role in supporting regional and international security cooperation.
