On Friday evening, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) held a distinguished official ceremony to commemorate its 69th anniversary. The event was attended by the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, and the Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance, Mr. Abdellatif Hammouchi, alongside high-profile security delegations from Morocco and abroad.
In an official address delivered on behalf of the DGSN by Regional Police Commissioner Mr. Reda Chokour, it was emphasized that May 16th of each year marks a symbolic and renewed occasion to honor the legacy of a longstanding security institution that has made significant sacrifices to uphold safety and stability. The day also serves to highlight achievements made in the service of the nation and its citizens, while evaluating challenges and anticipating future prospects.
The speaker stressed that this commemoration is not merely a festive event, but a national moment of unity that reflects the strong bond between Moroccan citizens and their security institution. It embodies a collective determination to use the occasion as a launchpad to renew commitment to public service and to elevate the performance of the security system.
The DGSN family expressed great pride in the esteemed presence of prominent international guests, including H.E. Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Raisi, President of INTERPOL; H.E. Dr. Mohamed bin Ali Koman, Secretary General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers; and H.E. Dr. Abdul Majeed bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan, President of Naif Arab University for Security Sciences. Security delegations from several sister and friendly countries also took part in the celebration.
The Directorate noted that this year’s anniversary arrives in a significant context, as Morocco prepares to host major international events, including the third General Assembly of INTERPOL, the Africa Cup of Nations, and the 2030 FIFA World Cup. This necessitates the continued development of the national security system and the strengthening of its readiness to ensure the safety of such global events.
In conclusion, the DGSN extended its gratitude to all supporting institutions and stakeholders who embody the principle of shared security production. It also renewed its loyalty and unwavering allegiance to the Glorious Alaouite Throne, praying for the health and long life of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him—the guardian of peace, stability, and protector of this faithful nation.
