Civil society organizations in the province of Sefrou have expressed deep outrage and condemnation over the brutal murder of a farmer in his thirties in the village of “Mlaha,” located in the Ouled Mkoudou commune. The victim was violently attacked by three individuals using bladed weapons, stones, and even vicious dogs.
Local activists described the incident as “horrific” and “shocking,” warning of the rising tide of violence in rural areas, often triggered by personal disputes. They highlighted what they see as a lack of effective deterrent and preventive mechanisms to combat such acts.
The civil society groups stressed that the growing trend of rural violence demands urgent intervention by the authorities. They called for harsher penalties for perpetrators of violent crimes and reinforced police presence in remote and rural regions. Furthermore, they emphasized the need for psychological and social support for the victim’s family and insisted that the assailants face justice without leniency, so that court rulings can serve as a strong deterrent and uphold community peace.
The crime, which occurred while the victim was working with his wife in an olive field, was partially documented by the latter in a video that went viral on social media—further intensifying public outrage.
While investigations are ongoing, civil society voices in Sefrou continue to demand justice for the victim’s family and accountability for the perpetrators.
