Several residents confirmed that these dogs instill fear, particularly during the evening hours, as they roam freely through the streets and alleys. This issue was raised during the May session of the Fes City Council, where councilor Abdullah Khayy called for immediate action and the implementation of effective measures to curb this growing phenomenon.

They emphasized the need to adhere to national recommendations regarding humane treatment of stray animals by adopting vaccination and sterilization programs instead of resorting to extermination.
Concerns continue to rise as summer approaches and temperatures rise, which often coincide with the spread of diseases related to stray animals. This has led citizens to demand a clear vision for effectively and sustainably addressing this complex issue.
In conclusion, the stray dog phenomenon remains a contentious issue that requires enhancing monitoring mechanisms and field interventions, along with launching awareness campaigns on the importance of cleanliness and avoiding factors that attract these animals, foremost of which are household waste and random restaurants.
