Two French-Moroccan Nationals Cause Chaos and a Hit-and-Run Accident in Marrakech While Drunk

On the evening of Tuesday, May 6, 2025, police officers from the Marrakech Police Department managed to arrest two French nationals of Moroccan descent, aged 28 and 36, on suspicion of being involved in a case of public intoxication, causing a traffic accident with injuries, and fleeing the scene in violation of the law.

According to available information, one of the arrested individuals, who was driving under the influence of alcohol, caused a traffic accident that resulted in the injury of a road user. He then fled the scene of the accident without complying with the police officers’ instructions. Investigations revealed that the driver had been driving recklessly, posing a danger to pedestrians and other road users in several narrow alleys of Marrakech’s old city.

A video footage documenting the moment of the accident circulated widely on social media, which helped expedite the police intervention and enhance field investigations.

The police intervened to arrest the suspects, and it was confirmed that both were heavily intoxicated. They were placed under temporary detention pending further investigation, which is being overseen by the competent public prosecutor’s office, to determine the circumstances surrounding the case and the real motivations behind these criminal actions.
