During the national conference organized by the Council of Advisors under the title “The Moroccan Parliament and the Sahara Issue: Towards Effective Parallel Diplomacy and Institutional Advocacy”, Mohamed Ouzine, Secretary-General of the Popular Movement Party, delivered a speech emphasizing that the Sahara issue is not just a political file, but rather one that concerns the very existence, identity, territorial integrity, and Amazigh heritage of Morocco.
Ouzine highlighted that Morocco does not compromise on its sovereignty or territorial integrity, stating, “Between Taza and Gaza, we stand with Taza first”, signaling that national interests come first, while still maintaining sympathy for the struggles of oppressed peoples, like the case of Gaza.
In this context, Ouzine praised the royal vision that transformed the Sahara issue from an ongoing conflict into a model for development and advanced regionalization in the southern provinces. He pointed out that this vision has been the cornerstone of Morocco’s success in managing the issue.
The Secretary-General of the Popular Movement also called for strengthening parallel diplomacy by enhancing the role of Parliament and elected institutions, as well as involving civil society and the Moroccan diaspora in addressing media manipulation attempts.
Ouzine took the opportunity to criticize Algeria, holding it responsible for the continued suffering of the detainees in the Tindouf camps, and called on the international community to intervene immediately to end this humanitarian crisis.
In conclusion, Ouzine stated that Morocco continues its path with confidence towards reinforcing its regional and international standing, relying on the cohesion of its national unity and the legitimacy of its cause.
