Rabat: The activities of an annual training course targeting teachers of informatics specializing in the education of the blind and visually impaired have commenced. The course focuses on the theme “Horizons of Artificial Intelligence: An Educational Journey for Empowering the Blind.”
This training course falls within the framework of the general strategy adopted by the organization for the welfare of the blind and visually impaired in the field of basic and continuous training since 2007 to the present. Approximately 340 students, representing various regions of the Kingdom, including the recovered Saharan provinces, have benefited from the organization’s training programs. These graduates currently hold positions in public hospitals under the Ministry of Health after successfully passing recruitment examinations.
Participating in this training course is a selection of informatics teachers from various educational institutes and training centers affiliated with the organization across the Kingdom. The primary goal of the course is to empower the blind and visually impaired to master the use of digital technology.
This year’s program features a special discussion on the integration of artificial intelligence technology into the educational curricula of the organization’s institutes, starting from the next academic year. The course covers the main components of how artificial intelligence works and its operational steps, in addition to identifying key artificial intelligence techniques and their particular importance for the blind and visually impaired.
This initiative reflects the organization’s ongoing commitment to developing the capacities of those working in the education of the blind and visually impaired and keeping pace with the latest technological developments to serve this segment of society and enable their full integration into various aspects of life.
