A primary school teacher and her mother were violently assaulted in the commune of Sabet Ait Raho in the Khenifra region, while they were on a mission to fetch water from the school’s boarding facility where the teacher works, according to her account.
In media statements, the teacher revealed that she had previously been subjected to harassment by some individuals in the area, which included an intrusion into her home and threats. She stated that she filed a complaint with the public prosecutor’s office on April 9, 2025, regarding these threats. However, the latest assault occurred unexpectedly while she was outside her home. She described the incident as “brutal,” as she suffered severe injuries, and her mother sustained a broken arm.
But the story took a different turn with the statement from the school’s janitor, who denied that the assault took place in an isolated area or at the hands of a group, as had been suggested. He clarified that the incident occurred inside the boarding school when the teacher went to fetch water. The cook there had asked her to return later because the water tank had not yet arrived, which led to a disagreement between them. The situation escalated suddenly when the teacher fell to the ground and started screaming.
In an interview, the janitor added that upon hearing the screams, he rushed to the boarding school and found the teacher on the floor. Her mother and sister arrived shortly after, and a scuffle ensued with the cook. The janitor mentioned that he tried to intervene to settle the dispute, but to his surprise, he saw the teacher’s mother fall beside her daughter without any direct assault taking place.
The janitor confirmed that the school’s surveillance cameras might have captured the moment of the incident, which could help reveal the full truth. He also pointed out that the teacher had previously spoken about attempts to break into her house and cut off her electricity, but investigations had found no evidence to support these claims. Additionally, he noted that the teacher does not live alone in the school’s accommodation but shares it with her sister, her sister’s husband, and her mother, making it difficult for any break-in or targeted attack to go unnoticed.
Investigations are ongoing to uncover all the circumstances surrounding the incident, with many aspects of the case still shrouded in mystery.
